1. Boon Hua school (later renamed Yu Hua school) was housed in the Merchant Club Building at No. 34, Jalan Besar, Kajang.

1917

1. Two shop lots at No.2 and No.4, Jalan Suleiman were rented to be used as classrooms.

1918

1. The school was renamed Yu Hua.

2. The board successfully applied for a piece of land located at Jalan Low Ti Kok.

1919 

1. New school buildings were ready for use.

2. 18 acres of rubber estate land was purchased as assets of school.

1. The board purchased another piece of rubber estate land, which is the present premise of Yu Hua National Type Secondary School, for future development.

1. School buildings were occupied by Japanese soldiers during World War II. School facilities were damaged. 

 1946

1. Classes of Yu Hua primary school were restarted.

1. Two blocks of building were put up: a single storey block comprising 5 classrooms, and a double storey block with 8 classrooms, a staffroom and an office for the principal. These buildings were completed in 1958 and were used by the Yu Hua secondary school.

2. Under the National Education System, YU HUA school was split into Yu Hua primary and Yu Hua secondary schools.

 1960

 1962

Mr. Gan Kim Pow 

1. The board of governors accepted the changes in the National Education Policy whereby two systems of education were introduced: Yu Hua National Type Secondary School and the Yu Hua Private Secondary School, which was discontinued 3 years later. 

2. Upper secondary classes were started.

 1965

1. The graduation of the first batch of students who had completed their upper secondary school education in Yu Hua National Type Secondary School. 

 1968

1. A double storey building, comprising a science laboratory on the ground floor and a school library on the first floor, was built.

 1973

1. The Parents’ and Teachers’ Association (PTA) was formed.

 1975

1. The Old Boys’ Association was formed. 

 1976

1. The Committee for the development of the school was set up. Chairman: Mr. Ng Bow Thai.

2. From 1976, there was a huge increase in the enrolment of students from YU HUA primary school, resulting in a shortage of classrooms in the secondary school. 

 1977

1. Two temporary classrooms were built. 

 1978

1. The school development committee was restructured. Chairman: Mr. Kam Pui.

2. Another two temporary classrooms were built. 

1979

1. Work to expand the school started in September. A three storey building with 9 classrooms and 4 toilets was put up.

Building expenses incurred was about RM 170,000.

 1980

1. Mr. Chow Lee Hiong was appointed the senior assistant of the school.

2. The committee members of PTA were elected.Chairman: Mr. Low Fook Chuan. He held the post for second and third term.

3. The completion of the first phase of the school’s development programme (three storey building) during the third term of school. 

 1981

Chairman: Mr. Lim Ann Koon.

Vice-chairman: Mr. Tan Sen Huat. 

 1. The school development board was reorganized with Mr. Loh Kam Pui as the chairman. The second phase of the school development project included a block of 4- storey building with 4 science laboratories, a library, 5 classrooms and 3 storerooms. The cost of development was estimated at RM500, 000.

 1982

(5/82-3/83) 

1. The 4- storey block was ready for use in the third school term.

2. Chairman of PTA : Mr. Hoo Ho Fui. He held the post for the fourth and fifth term (1982-1983). 

 1983

Mr. Ooh Peak Kim 

1. The school library was named Tan Peak Xiu. It was ready for use at the beginning of the year. The former library was changed into a staffroom.

2. Yu Hua National Type Secondary School was upgraded to a grade A school. 

 1984

1. The 4 science laboratories were open for use.

2. Chairman of PTA :Mr. Tee Hui Ming.

He held the post for the sixth, seventh and eighth term. 

 1985

1. Science classes for form 6 students were started. 

 1986

1. The school library was fixed with air-conditioners.

2. Computer classes were introduced to the students. 

 1987

1. The board of governors agreed to launch the third phase of the school development project.

2. Chairman of PTA :Mr. Chen Kooi Chiew. He held the post from the ninth till the fourteenth term. (1987-1992) 

1988

1. The school celebrated its 70th anniversary from 17/3 till 24/4.

2. Mr. Lee Wee Kong was appointed as Senior Assistant (Student’s Affairs), Mdm. Chiang Kok Kit was appointed the Afternoon Supervisor.

1989

1. Ground-breaking ceremony for the multi-purpose school hall and the administrative block was held on 5/1/89.

1990

Chairman: Mr. Tan Sen Huat.

Vice-chairman: Mr. Lim Guan Teik.

1. Phase three of the school development project was completed.

2. Mdm.Au Yong Lai Peng was appointed as Senior Assistant of Student’s Affairs.

3. The school organized Jogathon Yu Hua on 2/9/90.

1991

1. The school held its 73^rd anniversary celebrations. Activities held included: the official opening ceremony of the school hall, charity performances by 15 cultural organizations and variety shows by students of Yu Hua National Type Secondary and Primary schools and various primary vernacular schools in Ulu Langat district on the13/3, 14/3 and 16/3.

2. The school hall was open for use.

1. The Principal, Mr. Tan Sek Tee retired on 30/4/92.

1993

1. Chairman of PTA : Mr. Lim Yew Beng. He held the post from the fifteenth till the nineteenth term (1993-1997).

2. Pn. Kamariah Abd. Rashid was appointed as Head of Vocational and Technical Department.

1994

1. The school celebrated its 76^th anniversary with variety shows put up by students of National Type Secondary and Primary Yu Hua schools on 4/3 and 5/3.

1995

1. The school celebrated its 80^th anniversary. Various activities were held from 3/4 to 26/4.

1999

2000

1. Mdm. Lim Mui Tin was appointed as acting Afternoon Supervisor.

2. Mr. Chan Kim Choy was appointed as Senior Assistant of the school.

3. Mr. Chong Tat Keong was appointed as Afternoon Supervisor of the school.

4. Chairman of PTA: Mr. Yap Wee Leong.He held the post for the twenty third till twenty sixth term.

2001

1. Social science classes were started for form 6 students.

2002

1. Mdm. Chai Sai Hon was appointed as Senior Assistant of the school.

2. Mdm. Lee Har Looi was appointed as Senior Assistant of Student’s Affairs.

3. Mdm.Lim Mui Tin was appointed as Afternoon Supervisor.

4. Mr. Chan Lee Pin was appointed as Head of Science and Mathematics Department. He held the post until February 2002.

5. Pn. Maziah was appointed as Head of Science and Mathematics Department. (beginning 3/02)

6. Mdm. Chan Keng Ling was appointed as Head of Language Department.

7. There was a shortage of classrooms. Hence, 4 Removed classes used the premises of Yu Hua National Type Primary school.

2003

1. Mr. Nagayaya was appointed as Senior Assistant of Co curriculum.

2. Mdm. Chang Keng Ling was appointed as Senior Assistant of the school.

4. Mr. Thock Ker Pong was appointed as Head of Language Department.

2004

2005

Mr. Tan Keat Sing was elected as the 27th YDP of the Parents-Teachers Association

Jogathon was organised to raise funds for the New 5 Storey Building and to commemorate the school's 87 anniversary(3-3-2005)

Jumble Sale was held on the 10/4/2005

2006

Vice-chairman: Mr. Lee Swee Hong 

The on-line School Management System or simply known as "SMS"  was launched. A School based Local Area Network linking every Block, classroom and Admin Office was initiated. School gets its Enterprise Connectivity to the internet with the SDSL line installed. Virtually every class has a Network connection to the SMS and Internet.

Phase 2 of the building project was completed by November 2006. This comprises  a brand New 6 Storey Classroom block that replaces the KH Block.

A Charity Concert (Tiger-Sin Chew) was held on the 17/06/2006.

Mr Yeong Soo Kang gets a promotion. He holds a new position (Deputy Director) at the Institute of International Language  PJ. (1-11-2006).

Mdm Lee Har Looi (Senior Assistant - Student Affairs) retires.

2007

Mr. Chan Kai Choon

(16/8/2007 -

89th Anniversary Celebration of the School. The inauguration of the 2 New Block of Building (10-3-2007).

Mr. Chan Kai Choon gets appointed as the Pengetua /Principal of SMJK Yu Hua on the 16/8/2007.

The school achieved  2 excellence award for co-curiculum from the Selangor State Department.(August 2007).

SMJK Yu Hua Kajang took No 1 spot in the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Koku Peringkat Kebangsaan 2007.

One of the longest serving staff of SMJK Yu Hua, Mr Loo Fong Yew finally called it a day. He retires after serving almost 34 years in the same school.
