SMJK Yu
Hua organised a grand Teacher’s Day celebration on
17 May 2010. The celebration which was held at the
school’s hall was attended by teachers and students
from both the morning and afternoon session.The
ceremony started with the march past accompanied by
the school band. The band members looked very smart
in their uniforms.

There
were a series of speeches by several people. First,
student representative Low Xian Min thanked all the
teachers for their hardwork and dedication. This was
followed by the principal Chan Kai Choon’s
speech.Next, the PIBG chairman Mr. Kua Ken Sheng
delivered his speech. Mr. Kong Boon Hui later read
the keynote address by the education minister.
The teachers led by
Tengku
took an oath to uphold their responsilities as
educators. This was followed by token presentation
to teachers who have served for more than 10 years
at this school. Tokens of appreciation were also
awarded to teachers who recorded 100% attendance for
the year beginning 16/5/2009 – 15/5/2010. This was
soon followed by gift presentstions to the teachers
by student bodies, classes and individuals. Many
students took the oppurtunity to show their love and
gratitude to their beloved teachers in the form of
gaily wrapped presents and bouquets of flowers.

Next, everyone was entertained by performances
from students and the teachers of Yu Hua. There
were a choir presentation , piano recital,singing
and dancing. Many teachers, school staff and
students showcased their immense talent to the
thunderous applause of the highly appreciative
audience.A group of students from all races
performed a marvellous traditional Indian dance.
Bedecked in colourful costumes, they danced to an
energetic number from a Bollywood movie. This was
followed by performances by the harmonica club,
music club, diabolo, sign language, speech of Vivien
Wong and creative motion.

After the stage show, teachers were treated to a
buffet lunch.
It was a memorable day to both the
teachers and students.
