Await
Peaceful hills remained placid,
Flowers bloomed and wilted, repeated,
Earthworm bored innumerable holes, incessant,
Tender green mattress withered, and greened.
Awaiting . . .
The changes of the climate,
The changes of the season.
The sea spawned undulations,
Days turned to months, months turned to years,
The cornered dock stood adamant, persevered,
Withstanding every assault, barely weakened.
Awaiting . . .
The journeyed fishermen from the east,
The gigantic scow to be berthed.
Day by day he laid in the bed,
Day by day the glory days recalled,
Day by day he smiled and wept,
To bemoan the traveling time, he sighed deep.
Awaiting . . .
The second of inhaling the last breath,
The second of leaving the bed, the world.
Life is full of waits,
Awaiting the approaching seconds,
Awaiting the arriving years,
Awaiting the advent of centuries.
One who gives up not,
Always persists,
Because of love,
And also because of hope.
